FAQ - General Questions

• How does smartShiftMe use my information?

  smartShiftMe uses the information you provide only to deliver the SaaS-related services you request. We do not share, rent, or lease your personal information with any third-party marketers. We use reasonable security measures to protect your information.

• How long do you store my Source Code?

  smartShiftMe will store your source code information only for the duration of the engagement and project. You can choose at any time to cancel the engagement and delete your account. If and when you choose to delete your account, we will delete all your source code and account information from our system.

• What if there are syntax errors in my code?

  The SaaS Analysis process does not check the objects for syntax; the program will ignore portions of the code that contain unknown syntax constructs. Ignoring lines of code that contain syntax errors does not affect the overall accuracy of the analysis; in the worst case our analysis would miss reporting other errors contained in the same line, which would not have a significant impact on the overall analysis. We do report if the analysis process cannot resolve source code.

• Which SAP system versions do you support?

  The SaaS Analysis program supports versions 4.6c, 4.7, 5.0, and 6.0. If you require analysis of other versions, please call us at +49-621-400 67-600 or contact us via email at sap@smartshiftgroup.com.

• What does the SaaS Analysis cost?

  This free trial is for free.

• Can smartShiftMe help me with remediation and transformation after the analysis?

  Yes, our market-leading analysis tools are actually just the first step in our range of solutions. • When should I register and run an analysis?

  You should use the SaaS Analysis when you begin to plan and prepare a Unicode or upgrade project. Our analysis provides valuable insight that helps you accurately estimate your custom code remediation effort. In addition, our advanced rules-based engine provides a wealth of information beyond the scope of upgrades and Unicode enablement. Customers who are considering introducing SAP's Code Inspector, coding standards, or who are simply struggling with issues such as lengthy maintenance cycles all benefit considerably from our analysis. • Does SaaS Analysis replace SAP's UCCHECK?

  SAP's UCCHECK is not compatible with release 4.6 and lower. smartShiftMe Analyzer for SAP is the only available means of obtaining UC results for release 4.6 and lower. On newer SAP system lines, you can use UCCHECK in addition to smartShiftMe Analyzer to confirm the results. Our experience from many engagements has proven that our analysis detects more violations than UCCHECK because we take a different technical approach. If you have UCCHECK results, feel free to send them to us; we will submit the data to our analysis and enhance the quality and accuracy of your results.

• I heard that your analysis sometimes detects issues in the tens of thousands: how could I ever fix those manually?

  Our SaaS Analysis is only one of the solutions that we provide. We also offer the fastest and most accurate ABAP remediation solution, smartShiftMe Transformer for SAP. Our automated approach dramatically and reliably scales back overall remediation efforts. In a matter of hours, our transformation accomplishes more than 50 people can do in 4 months.

FAQ - Extractor

• What authority does the Extractor program need on my system?

  The Extractor program requires authorization to execute the SE38 transaction. It is also helpful for the program to have access to the SM37 transaction to check the progress of the batch process.

• Should I extract the code from my Development, Test, Quality, or Production system?

  For best results, you should select the system that contains the latest and most complete representation of your relevant custom code. The majority of our customers submit their Development systems for analysis; however, Development systems may also contain more unused custom code, thereby slightly decreasing the accuracy of estimating the effort required for transformation.

• How will the extraction process affect my machine/server?

  The extraction process uses very few resources. The process completes in as little as a few minutes, up to maximum a few hours, depending on the size of your system.
